Milk Bottle

On Saturday Mark and I had a date day. With Luca safely playing the hours away with Grandma and Grandpa we ventured into the city. Funny enough many of our conversations were still about the little man. While at one of our favorite shops (David Met Nicole) we picked up this milk bottle for Luca's room. As I've mentioned before Luca's nickname is Milky so we couldn't resist buying him what is clearly a knickknack. -kb

summer dress made in winter

Last week my niece was visiting from Perth. We started and finished a great sewing project together. She made this dress, she stitched every stitch, choose the fabric and made all of the choices. For a 10 year old this was a great project full of straight stitches at even intervals to create a dress that she will wear. We ran out of time at the end, so I completed the straps this morning. The dress is now on it's way to Perth via the post, although with the current weather I think it will be a few months before she gets to give it a go. We've decided on our third project for her Christmas visit (first project here), another gift for her mom, should be fun! -kb

(I referenced both Erin's tutorial and Alysha's blog Brooklyn Bean for the dress)

I've been spending a lot of time looking at these...

Yes, that would be the inside of my eyelids. I am not sure what is up with baby number 2 but I am tired, like exhausted all the time. I've avoided the laundry like the plague, have spent entire days in bed, am VERY behind on my blog reading (bloglines currently 2900+ YIKES), have 3 unfinished sewing projects, have been in bed most nights by 8:15 after a 30 min. doze on the couch. Thank goodness Mark is the greatest husband on earth for his understanding and ability to overlook Mt. Dirty Laundry on our bedroom floor. Today I am feeling much better, am starting on my huge to do list...but a nap around 1 PM is sounding so inviting...

Amy tagged me ages ago for a meme so here goes:

What was I doing 10 years ago: I was in Maine working on a summer camp for girls between my Sophomore and Junior year of undergrad at the University of Washington. As I remember it there were a few crushes on some of the male staff, lots of singing along to the Indigo Girls, a fake ID so I could go with the other counselors to the local bar on my night off, a Lilith Fair concert, a dislocated shoulder and tons of fun. It was a GREAT summer.

What is on your to do list today (in no particular order): schedule next scan for baby #2, post a blog, make a big salad for dinner, write my mom an email, finish at least one load of laundry, start to organize my closet (it's a big mess), continue to practice Luca's words for the week (thank you, please and hello), make Luca giggle when Mark comes home from work, finish straps on shearing dress made with my niece last week...take a nap or two.

Snacks I enjoy: Anything sweet, pickles, hard candy, popcorn...at this point I will literally eat just about anything and I seem to be snacking all the time!

Things I would do if I was a billionaire: Charity, travel, art, an art studio. Funny how when I really think about it I am not sure that there is much I would really change about my life, I think it would be more of the little things and how I would be able to spend my time with Luca and Mark.

Places I have lived: Omaha Nebraska, Seattle Washington, Bow Washington, LaConner Washington, Sydney Australia.

Jobs I have had: Gap girl, camp counselor, ice cream scooper, financial analyst, project manager, program manager, group manager. Really not very exciting mostly corporate, mostly boring!

If you'd like to participate join in, I'd love to know more about you too.-kb

A book club treat

Last night my book club was hosted at my house. As luck would have it, my very good friend Meg is in a book club with the author of the book I choose ("An Exacting Heart" by Jacqueline Kent). Not only was the book a fantastic read, but I was able to arrange Jacqueline to attend my book club. She was fantastic, so open and funny, full of great insights and stories about her life and her experience writing the book. My book club is fairly small and she fit in just like another one of the girls, it was great. I am so indebted to my lovely friend Meg for arranging the evening and for bringing me these yummy cupcakes from a new cupcake shop in Neutral Bay. I went to sleep with a huge smile on my face after a great evening and a cupcake before bed. -kb

I did not fall off the face of the earth...I am still here

oh my it's been a month + since I posted...

I have been really busy, so here is the quick recap...photos of projects and some actually interesting stuff coming soon!
  • Resigned from my job! Yikes, I had worked there my entire career but I am so excited about the change!
  • Searched for and found a new job! Yippee, I have that new exciting feeling that I used to get every September before I went back to school!
  • Took a 3 week holiday to the states to catch up with family and friends. I planned this with 3 days notice, it was great fun, Luca had a blast. On the way home we had a short stop in Fiji (thank you Qantas, our flight was canceled mid-flight) it was a bit hectic, but Luca loved the extra day in the pool.
  • Found out we will be adding a new member to our family on January 28th. I am still a bit morning sick, but it seems to be getting better. If anyone has the links to the posts I saw a few months ago about turning normal pants into maternity pants, can you send them to me?
  • Reading the 2800+ new blogs listed on my bloglines...wow you crafty gals are busy!!!
